Booking & cancellation policy

Everything that happens after you book, in plain English. This is the same policy we reference at checkout and in your booking confirmation.

The essentials

Pay in two parts

25% deposit to reserve your spot. Remaining 75% is due 60 days before departure (T-60).

48-hour free cancellation

Change your mind within 48 hours of booking for a full refund, minus Stripe processing fees.

Minimum 6 travellers

Every departure needs at least 4 confirmed travellers to run.

Travel insurance is required

You choose the provider. We strongly recommend cover for trip cancellation, medical, and baggage.

Payment schedule

To confirm a spot on any departure you pay a 25% deposit at checkout. Your card is securely saved with Stripe and the remaining 75% balance is automatically charged on or before T-60 — sixty days before your trip start date. We'll email you a reminder beforehand, and if a charge fails we'll retry up to 3 times before flagging your booking. Repeated failures result in your spot being released and our team following up directly.

All prices are quoted in SGD. Stripe converts to your card's currency at their live rate; conversion fees (if any) are set by your card issuer.

If you cancel

Within 48 hours of booking

Full refund to your original card, minus Stripe processing fees (Stripe does not return those to us).

After 48 hours, up to T-60

Deposit is non-refundable in cash. You can convert 100% of your deposit into cat.treks credit toward any future departure within 12 months.

Inside T-60 (final payment window)

Deposit is forfeit. Balance refunds depend on how much we can recover from stays, hosts, and suppliers — we'll share the breakdown in writing.

Prefer to switch trips instead? You can move your deposit to another departure at any time before T-60 with no penalty, subject to availability.

If we cancel

If a departure doesn't hit the 6-traveller minimum, or we cancel for any reason on our side, you choose:

  • Full cash refund to your original card — Stripe fees included, we cover them.
  • Credit + 2% bonus toward any future cat.treks departure, valid for 12 months.

Refund mechanics

  • Cash refunds return to the original card via Stripe. Stripe processing fees on the original charge are not returned to us and cannot be refunded. This applies to all user-initiated cancellations.
  • Credit refunds return the full amount (fees included) as cat.treks credit. Credit never expires while your account is active and stacks with promo codes.
  • Refund processing takes 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.

Trip changes on our side

Trips are field operations. Weather, permits, host availability, and safety may force small itinerary changes. When that happens we'll match the swap to the spirit of the trip and communicate early. Material changes (dates moved by more than 3 days, or the country changing) give you the same choice as an "If we cancel" scenario above.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is required for every cat.treks trip. We don't sell insurance and don't take commissions. Choose any reputable provider that covers trip cancellation, medical & evacuation, and baggage.

We may ask to see your policy number before departure. Travelling without valid insurance can result in refusal to depart with the group, with no refund owed.
