Georgia’s been making wine for 8,000 years, and at harvest, we’re invited in. Pick grapes with the Vardiashvili family, crush them the old way and pour them into clay qvevri buried in the earth, then feast at their supra while the folk singers go. After that, swap the vines for the Caucasus and hike up to Gergeti Trinity under Mt. Kazbegi.

a little preparation, a lot of possibility
come for the harvest, with fitness for an uphill mountain hike.
this is a moderate, women’s adventure that pairs a hands-on grape harvest in kakheti with a hike up to gergeti trinity beneath mt. kazbegi. wine enthusiasm is optional; being ready to walk uphill matters.
trip length

the harvest is hands-on: you’ll pick grapes, crush them the old way and pour them into clay qvevri.
the mountain outing is a hike up to gergeti trinity, not just a sightseeing stop.
what the rating really means
Fitness
think beyond a flat park connector walk: use bukit timah climbs and stairs in your block to prepare for walking uphill.
Technical
use macritchie trail walks to practise deliberate foot placement and controlled steps, alongside your stair sessions.
Comfort zone
swap the familiar park connector routine for hands-on grape harvesting, a family feast and hiking beneath the caucasus mountains.
there’s a lovely contrast here: picking and crushing grapes with the vardiashvili family, sharing their supra as the folk singers sing, then swapping the vines for a hike up to gergeti trinity. it’s a moderate adventure, so come prepared to put your legs to work as well as settle in around the table. you don’t need to love wine to belong here—the food, family and songs are just as much the point, and a raised glass of water is welcome.
use these as practical preparation checks, not a race or a pass-fail test.
nobody gets left behind. we set the hiking pace by the slowest person, and we’re here to support you along the way.

Not at all. The harvest is as much about the families, the food and the songs as what’s in the glass. There’s plenty of tea, fresh juice and churchkhela, and no one minds a raised glass of water at the supra.
That’s Rtveli, the grape harvest, when whole villages head into the vines. Come any other month and you’d only taste the wine. Now you get to pick, crush and pour it into the qvevri yourself.
